In the beginning..............Genesis Chapter 1 (A Creative Illustration)

Genesis 1:26 Inspirational Image

In the beginning God created heavens and the earth. Heavenly bodies filled the universe and earth held a special place among this multitude. The earth was without any form and empty. Darkness stole into this emptiness and nothing was visible. Vapors began to bundle together and turned into a huge mass of water body under the cover of the darkness. The Spirit of God was hovering in the thin air over the waters, to bring forth life on earth for God who is Spirit wanted to create man, his child, in flesh, in his own likeness, the crown of all creations.

God looked at the earth through the bright windows of heaven and saw that it was dark. He knew that darkness was not a creation of him. It is mere absence of light. He declared,  “let there be light” and glory of God began to dawn upon the earth. The light began to dispel the darkness out of its place and earth began to brighten up. God looked at the earth again and saw that it was good. It was delightful, gracious, playful and pleasing. He was happy with his decision.

Light was given a name Day and darkness Night. So time was introduced into the earthly space by the timeless God. Now the flesh can function within the bounds of space and time. It can gauge, compare, start, finish, open, close, bind or bend. Day and Night were cycled into the scales of time. Rhythm came into being. Then there was evening which was silent, bland and bare. At a distance the waters began to roll into gentle waves under the impact of the hovering Spirit. Silence dominated as time began to tick in. Then there was morning the first day.

The next day broke bright. Heavenly light shone around the earth. God’s glory fell on the waters though they did not reflect back, as the universe hemmed around the earth in a tight grip. There were no birds to sing the morning tunes. It was silent and motionless. The leaves were not there to rustle under a gentle wind. Wind, birds, leaves, deer were all unknown things. Gods Spirit stayed close to the waters which was everywhere yet was stranded under the tight grip of the universe. He ordered the universe to withdraw by a few cosmic units. The waters that withdrew began to form into multihued clouds. The lights began to reflect back into the nature and there was brightness multiplying all around the earth.  The sky gave forth celestial designs. Then God whispered to the Trinity from the golden corridors of heaven, “This would fill my children with dreams, visions and noble ambitions”. There followed an evening and a morning, the second day.

Then God ordered the waters to gather together into one place. There arose the dry lands which was hiding under the waters. They broke into hills, valleys, mountains, rocks, crags and cliffs. Boulders rolled into stones. Stones turned into sand, pebbles and precious stones caressed by the waters. They beamed under the broad daylight, brimming with God’s glory. Earth was getting ready to house God’s son in the near future. God named the massive water body “Sea” and the dry land “Earth”.  God opened one of the windows of heaven to take a glimpse of the progress. He saw the wetland co-existing with the dry land. He couldn’t wait anymore to watch the glorious moment when the physical flesh will inherit his sublime Spirit.

Then God let the vegetation sprout out of the wet sand. Green plants showed up bearing fruits which carried seeds of their kind. The grass began to spread into the meadows and the trees into the forests. Thickets began to encroach the dry land. Flowers began to bud. A cherubim timely moved the curtains of heaven with its wings and God peeped through heaven’s latticed window to see the earth turning green and colors bursting forth all over. He could imagine a million daffodils and a billion roses dancing together under the care of his son in the near future. At far off, the waves began to beat on the rocks, the wind began to whistle, some boulders rolled down the hills and landed on the edge of a crag. The day drummed into a colorful evening and a bright morning the third day.

God began the process of delegation. He said, “Let the celestial bodies regulate the day and night now on. Let them shine upon the earth, let my creations begin to create”. This set forth a new cosmic order as God purposed it. The sun began to rule the day, the moon shone through the night sky, the stars began to twinkle that it may fill the mind of man with questions. Seasons began to refresh and regulate the vegetation.  The leaves began to synthesize. Fruits yielded seeds, seeds yielded trees, the earth began to flourish botanically under the new order. God turned to look at earth from the edge of his heavenly abode and saw that it was good. There was evening, so refreshing, full of vigor, joy, energy and enthusiasm and there was morning, the fourth day.

Spirit of God continued to lavish upon the waters for waters were the womb of life. He saw the tall trees standing firm in its place longing to be surrounded by vibrant life, the bubbling waters remaining thirsty for a bigger purpose, the branches yearning for a greater sense of fulfillment. God craved for moving things on his favorite planet. Then he spoke again and it came into being. The fish began to flood the waters. Sea creatures popped their heads up and the waters threw a giant splash. Dolphin dodged their heads while playing with each other. Birds darted through the air. They displayed their diving skills above the waters as though they were alive for ever. When they were tired, they settled on the branches. They broke into songs. Music came into being. There was mirth and wild joy everywhere. God stepped down the stairs of heaven and stood at the point closest to the earth. He rested his left hand on a golden pole and peeped at the earth. He saw life beginning to live on the earth. He knew he was a step away from placing his child on the earth. His stretched out his righteous right hand and blessed the earth for the first time for he wanted the earth to turn into a perfect sanctuary for his children . “Fill up the earth you blessed ones for my child” he said and kept standing there staring at the earth. That was an evening full of life, mirth, joy, action, movement and noise. As the noise was dying away and the darkness began to crawl back, the full moon shone through the sky which appeared like a giant dais rehearsing a reception. Then the morning came and it was the fifth day.

The next day broke jovial and musical. A thousand melodies merged in the midair as in a golden chorus. The trees bent like a bow under a caressing wind. Then it went back to its original position as per some unrevealed scientific laws. God was in real haste. He ordered the livestock to be in place. Earth brought forth humble and wild animals. They coexisted amicably. The lamb slept with the tiger. A deer spent a night in the lion’s den. All that was made had an identity. Every beast and livestock was according to their kind. The earth thrived in  variety. “My child would name them all, God whispered to the Trinity and stepped onto the fertile earth”. The sodden earth reveled under the crush of his footsteps. He walked around the earth and felt his creations with his fingers. He saw that everything was looking so good and ready for his child’s arrival.

“Let’s make man in our own image, in our own likeness”, God said to the Trinity. Then God paused, bent down and grabbed a handful of sand. As he dropped the lifeless sand to the ground, it began to form into a human figure. It landed on a pair of sturdy but hinged legs. God was so pleased to see his child on his feet. “He will walk, run, climb and play”, God whispered to himself.  There came about a pair of hands. God held his child by the hands. “He can hug, hold and worship”, he commented. Then the face of man emerged. God's ethereal hands trembled with love as he ran his fingers over his child’s face. “You will be a creator as I AM”, God hushed. Then He breathed into his nostrils, the very breath of life which was full of his Wisdom and Spirit. The flesh received its life. The Lord God stretched for his hands again and held him close to his bosom. “Be fruitful my child, multiply and fill the earth. Dominate it, feed on it, and flourish”.

God saw that everything that he had made was very good. He was pleased with everything. There was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

On the seventh day, God was found to be reclining from his golden throne all through the day. Angels moved around him singing hymns while he kept staring at earth with great amount of pride. Then He leaned back and rested from all actions.
