Science and Christianity - Are they in conflict?

  There has been a lot of conflict between Science and Christianity historically. Why do they clash? Are they contradictory to each other? Or can they coexist? Bible says that human being has a Body, Soul and Spirit (1 Thessalonians 5:23).   Science deals with the physical aspect of life. It is in the pursuit of finding laws that govern the physical world. Be it an atom, molecule, force or heat, they are of the physical world. They are tangible, quantifiable and measurable. They are what we see, feel, smell, taste or hear. Therefore distance is measured in Meter and force in Newton. Heat is quantified in Joules as well as Energy. Soul is beyond the scope of Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology or even Mathematics). Fear or faith has no physical unit attached to it. There is no unit of will power either. There are no global standards of happiness. Faith cannot be captured in a test tube and put to test. In the beginning..............Genesis Chapter 1 (A Creative Illustration)

In the beginning God created heavens and the earth. Heavenly bodies filled the universe and earth held a special place among this multitude. The earth was without any form and empty. Darkness stole into this emptiness and nothing was visible. Vapors began to bundle together and turned into a huge mass of water body under the cover of the darkness. The Spirit of God was hovering in the thin air over the waters, to bring forth life on earth for God who is Spirit wanted to create man, his child, in flesh, in his own likeness, the crown of all creations. God looked at the earth through the bright windows of heaven and saw that it was dark. He knew that darkness was not a creation of him. It is mere absence of light. He declared,  “let there be light” and glory of God began to dawn upon the earth. The light began to dispel the darkness out of its place and earth began to brighten up.
